well when i bought my 99 vert back in june i noticed the passenger side window didnt quite go up as fast and the driver side
it seems to be crapping out
at the moment it works periodically
like when i first start up the car i can put the window all the way down and right after that i can usally bring it all the way up but if i go back down and try to go back up it gets stuck half way
that seems like the motor is still working and its something else
but also the window always did go up slower then the driver side so it could be the motor
so just wonderin if you guys think its the motor
also how much does a new motor cost
what brand should i use ect...
or should i just get it fixed buy a professional
My 99 z is doing the same thing. The passenger side window this weekend started showing the same symptoms. i would open all the way but wouldnt close all the way. If i wait about 5 min., it would work then. I'm gonna guess the motor but we'll see what the experts here say.
yea thats exactly whats happening to mine
if anyone has a clue please let me know
Theres a thread on here somewhere, its a motor fault of some kind if i read correctly. the motor gets overworked and overheats and does what youre describing. I just replaced my drivers side window motor beacuse of this. Its not too hard to replace, just Use bolts instead of rivets to hold it to the door, because ive heard that it is common and people have replaced the motor several times.
I got a replacement from autozone, $54 new, or like $30 for a refurb with a core... They didnt have any refurbs in stock... Lifetime warranty, so if it brakes next year Ill just undo 4 bolts and replace it again, no biggie.
make sure to grease up the sliders in the window, as i read that is a problem for the motor being overworked, rusty and sticky sliders in the door.
haha have fun! (its a SMALL workarea)
My Civic did that. After 13 years the grease kinda disappears and the window binds on the track. Of course, the bushings for the windows were also bad so it would kinda wiggle around while going up too. Only happened with the rear windows though. Maybe it had something to do with the ants that moved their colony out of the window two days after I bought my Civic, years ago. LOL

We all drive in a yellow Cavalier...
Have you tried greasing the tracks? My passenger side was studdering until I ran some wheel bearing grease up and down the tracks.
yeah mines doing that too. I think it's because of the heat. It has been 100 degrees here.
I'm back from the dead.

My Cavalier Burnt up :-(
well Ironically enough I am having a problem with my 99 Z24 Convertible Passenger window too lol. But mine is pretty much toast. I just bought the car yesterday, and my girlfriend tried to roll the window down after i told her it didnt work and it actual lowered itself about 1 1/2 inches.... But now it wont go back up and it rained all day yesterday, today, and it supposed to rain for the next three days. Does this sound like a motor problem to you guys??
this is where my window stops when i roll it up. after that it makes a loud fast clicking noise. anyone got n e thing?
