ABS Sensor

Alright so im changing my wheel bearings. Tthey arent high end or anything. I think they arent brand name.

I was getting 1 side for 40 bucks.

My cousin just told me you have to get the ones with the abs sensor cus theres a connecter that connects to the hub. When I called the parts person up he said he punched in 1999 cav z24 and this is what showed up. The parts person also told me there is no sensor on the hub it is probably located somewhere else

What do I do, is it possible to still use the wheel bearings without the sensor.

Do they have a sensor in them at all?

Thanksssss

The ABS sensor is not attached to the wheel bearing, it is fixed to the spindle, the bearing has a reluctor wheel on the back that makes pulses everytime it comes near contact with the fixed sensor. So yes you do need a special wheel bearing that has the reluctor wheel. If not your abs light will come on and give you an "Excessive wheel speed variation" or something.

follow the only electrical connection on your A-arms and you will find the sensor, which is not part of the bearings.

The rear bearing has a reluctor wheel, but the reluctor wheel on the front is mounted on the axle behind the spindle.

Nevermind, you dont need any kind of special wheel bearing in the front, only for the rear.

As long as they are the right ones then you shouldnt have any ABS related problems when changing the wheel bearing.. Just be careful not to strech the ABS wires
