dont know why but i believe the ones with 2 wires are in the 00+ and the single wire ones are in the 95-99's

do you need a sensor for something or just asking the question in general? pm john lenko, he will tell you the difference between the 2. i dont believe there is a difference though. i believe that the fact gm changed all the wiring in the 00+ is why it has 2 wires.

The older 95-99 ones used the exhaust manifold itself for sensor ground... the one wire was just a signal. The newer 00+ uses a separate ground wire to eliminate noise and ground loops. More reliable

Some have 4 wires... heated O2 sensors. So there isn't an issue with the sensor having to wait til the exhaust warms up (tho it does that PRETTY QUICK!) to get accurate readings. Some people even retrofit the heated sensor onto older cars to alleviate other issues.

Its also a good swap for when you add a header to any of our cars and the O2 sensor gets moved down to the collector, that will let the system go into closed loop alot faster.
