My sister has a 2003 Sunfire with a 2.2 L Ecotec, Auto tranny - my nephew was driving it when the motor stopped running. The car would not restart. The radio and other accessories would still work. Any solutions to this problem?
Yeah how about giving us some info.
Does this thing even crank?
You say wont restart, when you go to restart, does it try to, or no?
- 2004 Cavalier - 124k, owned since new
The motor will crank, but won't run.
The car has about 150 000 km on it.
check all of the fuses under hood and inside of the car
check the oil and all the wires going to the battery
Looks like it is the fuel pump. This is very strange because I have owned 2 Cavaliers with a total of 550 000 km on them and have not replaced any fuel pumps.
Sounds like you lucky on your cars Andrew, but as far as your sisters 03, i'll i can say is welcome to GM vehicles, i work for an extended warranty company in the states, and you would be amazed at the amount of fuel pumps and fuel pressure regulators we cover on Gm vehicles daily.
I have an 03 in the family and at 50k mi the fuel pump died. not uncommon.
And it looks like the dealer soaked them on the repair with a bill for 2K.
Back from the dead...I just replaced my fuel pump two weeks ago, even though it was working but not as well as it had been, and now I have the same problem. The car cranks, but won't fire up. The battery is still good, but will be replaced ASAP since if I have the key in the on position for 10 min its dead. To be honest it hasn't been running proper for about a year.
