When shifting from first to second sometime second to third car bogs down then takes off.....acts likes it dont get much gas then gets it all.....any ideas on what the problem would be???
Eight year old car... never a bad time to replace a fuel filter either way...

My cars are having this problem 2, just after the shift it bogs and then surges, both did it/do it despite engine lights, octane level, mods that I did, fuel filter replacement....
I had a narrow o2 gauge on my sunfire and it didnt show a leaning out on a shift, so i dont know if it was fuel... no way to be sure w/o wideband ... least not 100% sure.
I assumed it was timing retard or something, because I couldnt ge the a/f to read lean, or even "stoich" when it was doing it...
Id like to see if anyone knows what this is.
One car is a 4t40e auto, and the other is a 5spd, so thats not the issue either...
Sorry to double post, but its only noticible to me at WOT, not sure about other times really.
I have no clue wats going on gotta a buddy that has a 99 cav and it does it from 2nd to 3rd
I'm sure you've already checked the basics such as fouled plugs, and like u said filter, but have you checked your injectors? or look for any vacuum leaks (read - intake manifold)?...

Haha, yea, injectors are actually new on my sunfire, and It did it with good plugs as well... I went through a lot trying to figure out what it was and just gave up on it being something that was worn out or needed replacing, unless the fuel pump on both cars is glitchy or needs to be replaced...
I also know theres no vac leaks, I was checking before for a high idle, with starting fluid... problem was the TPS, no leaks either..
anyone got a solution to this? Anyone else have a similar problem?
(grasping...) fuel pump?
... smurfs in the tank?

im going with smurfs, cuz i dont wanna drop the tank
thats the next possible fix i guess... oh well, a clutch and some decent brakes come first.
Is it only when you shift, or does it do it when your completely let off the gas and then get back on it without shifting too? It sounds like either you MAP sensor isn't reading the manifold pressure changes correctly or your TPS is loose or may have a broken spot in the potentiometer.
for me its just during the shifts... from stop or foot off, theres no problem
yeah mine is only in the shifts as well but thx for all the input and help
