Hi,
I just bought a Sunfire GT 97 with a broken 2.4 in, i'm currently swapping with a 2.2 because i got one lawing around in my garage, all the wiring from the 2.2 is now install and there is only one relay that i dont have a connector on the 97 2.2 harness. The relay is a Omron 12177235, it's located on the frame on top of the radiator fan. The four connection on the relay indicate (85,87, 86 and 30). I'm not sure what is this relay, I dont have this relay on the donor car wish is a cavalier 97 2.2.
Any idea?
Thanks
Phil
Sounds like that is the GM starter relay they were installing as part of a Recall to stop the ignition cylinder from "burning out" . It "breaks" the circuit from the key cylinder and routes power to the starter solenoid from the battery instead. It only uses the key to "trigger" the relay......
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence you tried!
Ok so i should add the connector to this harness? But if not it should just run fine without it?
Thanks for the fast reply
Phil
