Ok, I have a '00 2.4 cavy, I had developed the wonderful high idle, around 1500-2000 when stopped, so I decided to give her a little tune and clean. So i replaced the plugs and bought a can of throttle body cleaner and a can of electrical contact cleaner. I changed the plugs no problem, cleaned the throttle body no problem, disconnect all the t/b sensors and a few others, and sprayed the contacts with the cleaner no problems yet. Then i was going to pull out the sensors on the throttle body and clean them, I had done this last year when i was having a problem that turned out to be my FPR. Went to pull out the first one(don't remember which one it is) and snapped the head of the bolt off.
This one
Just wondering if anyone knows what size this bolt is so I can get another one from work or if I have to go to gm.
Then after putting everything back together minus one bolt I took it for a drive and when I really get on it and shift fast and mash the gas back down there is a wierd squeek from the engine/front end somewhere. It only happens when I shift hard and then it squeeks as soon as I push the gas back down. Now could the missing screw be causing that sensor not to seat properly and the squeek is an air leak, but I seem to remember there being an o-ring on that sensor last time I had it out.
Anyway other ideas welcome, and I would love to know the size of that bolt!
On the bright side it is idling better now though!
Thanks!
Thatīs your IAC (idle air control I believe)and it is the main sensor to clean when idle issues, donīt know the bolt size just take the other one out as sample and buy two new ones. Under those three things in the picture is the MAP sensor attached to the throttle body with a short vacuum hose and when it gets loose or leaks it also causes idle alterations.
Ok took it out for a little longer drive and the squeek went away, i think there might have been a little TB cleaner or something on the belt and when I pushed the gas back down after shifting the belt would slip a little and after driving a while it went away.
I tried to take out the other bolt but it too felt like it was going to break so I was hoping to get some replacements before I broke them both and had no car to drive.
