Keeping in mind, I recently turbo charged my car....
I have had quite a headache with my fuel pump. Took me forever to diagnose and then when I went to remove the tank, the thread's on the bolts broke so I had to cut the straps. Frustrated, I just decided to buy a new tank and straps...just to keep everything rust free under my car (the old tank was horrible anyway). Now I am to the point where I can't get the old fuel pump out of the sending unit. But after looking at the fuel pump...I noticed that it was different than what
this faq had told me to get. and the bolts for the original straps are tough as hell.
So here's what I need help on:
1. What to do with the fuel pump...should I replace it w/ just the stock cavalier pump, and get an inline msd or similar or does anyone know of an alternative in tank high flow pump?
2. Tips on how in the hell to get the stock fuel pump out/ get the hose off it without ripping it.
3. Suggestions for getting those bolts out to put my new straps on...drill or cut them out w/ an angle grinder?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...I spent 2 hours out in my garage unsuccessfully trying to get out the stock fuel pump.
You know any one who can weld? if so you can weld a piece of metal(a few inches long to act as a wrench would) to any part of the bolt and use the piece of metal. Turn the piece of metal in the direction you would to loosen the bolt. Or if you have no welder or the boltz are to far in. grap a drill bit that is half the diamiter of the bolt. Drill in about half way through the bolt or more. Get a reversed thread Tap or kit or reversed thread self tapping bolt. screw in Tap or bolt into the whole you drilled and this will unscrew the boltz... Did this make sense to you?

Fuel Pump Replacement
The fuel pump is not serviced separately. The modular sender assembly must be serviced as a complete unit.

What i thought, they had to do that in my dads cav.
Yah no its right...I had read that article in the library and was hoping that the swap would work, but I do need the whole unit.
I think I might have worded the original post incorrectly too, because the threads and not the bolt heads were stripped.
I did some very very careful manuevering with my angle grinder until i just totally ground the heads of the bolts off and replaced the clips and bolts
Thank you to everyone that helped!
