Timing cover gasket most likely, good idea to replace thermostat (hence thermostat housing gasket/o'ring), TB gasket if you pull that off the manifold, I can't think of anything else right now. I am not certain how the water pump bolts to that motor, but if you have to pull it off, then you'll need gaskets for that too. If you DO have to yank the pump, might as well replace it anyway if you can swing it with all these other things going on.

Also, is there a way to replace the lifters without taking the head off? (if u dont want to answer the question then please Dont, and dont waist ur time to put search or something like that. Why waist everyones time inclusing ur own by doing that everytime someone wants to ask something, otherwise what the hell is this forum for??)

Yes. If I had a scanner, I would gladly scan the pages from my shop manual, but as far as I can tell from reading this, the head itself need not come off. The lifters in the 2.4 aren't in the block anyway, they are under the cams in the camshaft housing assemblies. Which brings to mind another thing, you'll need to replace the camshaft housing to head gaskets. Dunno if it will help you any, but the procedure starts on page 6-236, and concludes on page 6-245 of Volume 1 (2000 model year, your engine should be the same though).

Don't mean to but in here, but usually a digital camera does the trick

True. But my cam isn't the best in the world, I'd have to take like 20 or 30 pics to get good enough resolution (closeup) so he could read the text. Let me know, I'll do it if you want.

well i would think you need to at least take the timing house off so you could get the sprokets off the camshafts then just pull the camshafts out and there are the lifters no real need to yank off the whole head tho.

but after you get that off its easy and the only gasket you would really need to have would be the camshaft housing gaskets and the timing housing gasket.

Forgive the low quality, my Canon Powershot A520 is only 4 megapixels.
The exhaust cam is pretty similar, same bolt sequence. Orange gasket for exhaust, green for intake. (stock I assume, no flippin clue why though)

pictures of intake cam removal sequence text from GM manual Pics are in order of text. IE picture001 is first set of steps, picture014 is last set of steps.

The only pic I took of an illustration is the fastener tightening sequence. And I missed part of the lifter storage tips, since you are replacing them anyway, I guess it doesn't matter. But to clarify, store the lifters upside down (camshaft side UP) submerged in clean engine oil. Would be a good idea to work the plungers in and out with your pinky finger or something while submerged to bleed them up. I hope this helps.

Sorry, I mis-typed the lifter storage part, you want to store them camshaft side DOWN, plungers up.
