Part number frustration

Can someone please help?
I'm looking for the proper part number for the passenger side CV axle on my 2003 Sunfire with the auto trannny.

Here's what Advance Auto Parts has listed:
NCV10585 New; Left/Right; 4 Speed; w/AT; Torque Spec: 185 ft. lbs.; Wrench Size: 30mm
NCV10583 New; Left; 3 Speed, w/AT; Torque Spec: 185 ft. lbs.; Wrench Size: 30mm
NCV10582 New; Right; 3 Speed AT; Torque Spec: 185 ft. lbs.; Wrench Size: 30mm

Here's the problem.
NCV10585 only fits the driver's side.
NCV10583 isn't what I need. It looked exactly the same as the NCV10585.
NCV10582 is actually about 2" longer than the stock axle so it won't even fit.

The driver's side has a male output shaft and the passenger side is female.

The stock axle has the following numbers on a sticker with bar codes:
TGM2632N0089
P26049007
0589

I ran into this same problem last year with the upper motor mount. Every single parts place I went to had a wedge shaped piece of rubber which as we all know doesn't look like any mount anywhere on our vehicles. I ended up having to order one from a Pontiac dealership.

Go to the dealership and ask them nicely what the part number is for your axleshaft. They may not have it though, GMPD only seems to sell individual parts, and not the whole assembly. BTW, the ABS versions are different than the non-ABS versions because of the inductor ring the ABS sensor reads.
when you say the drivers side output is male, passenger female, are you talking about the transmission, or the hub end of the axle?
I went on rockauto.com and found this:

CV UNLIMITED Part # 5340 (REMANUFACTURED)
Reman; PASSENGER SIDE; A/T; 4 SPD
51.79 price - 65.00 core - 116.79 total + shipping of course.

Also, when you say "NCV10583 isn't what I need. It looked exactly the same as the NCV10585", did you just compare the lengths? I believe the shafts are the same length on each side, just differing in perhaps the inner shaft. The 10583 is also the replacement for the driver side 3 speed auto. Just making sure.
I'm assuming you have the 4 speed, since the 3 speed one is too long. BTW, the new one is only ten bucks higher (and no core charge) than the reman, might keep that in mind.

I was able to get the part number from one of the dealerships. It's 26059855. They want $662.96 for that puppy! GM Parts Direct has it for only $393.01 but I'm going ot keep looking. The RockAuto link you gave me looks like my best bet but I'm going to call them and find out the actual physical measurements before I order. I couldn't find the new one for $10 more that you were talking about.

To clarify:
On the transmission, the driver's side output shaft is male and the passenger side is female.

The NCV 10583 and 10585 look the same. I believe they were slightly different lengths, but I wasn't paying attention because the part that plugs into the transmission was the same on both and wasn't what I needed for the passenger side.

I'm trying to find out too...
Did they even offer a 3 speed auto? I can't find any information anywhere on the internet that even suggests it. Also, some of the parts sites I visit only have one option for auto trannys.

I'm starting to believe that the parts manufacturers are sending wrong part numbers out to suppliers. What I find hard to believe though is that no one out there seems to have had this problem before.

Shasta,
That's what I'm talking about. They've got the driver's side part numbers correct but the passenger side is completely wrong.
FWIW, the dealership only showed two dealerships in the whole country that even had the passenger side axle and it would take up to a week to get one in.
Guess I'll have ot keep driving the Trans Am to work. 11mpg with a 60 mile round trip.
