2.4 Timing Chain Tensioner

Hey, hows everyones day goin, hopefully better than mine...

Alright about 2 weeks ago I finally got my rebuilt motor back in my car and after a small battle with a bad MAP sensor it was running perfect. Last week the chain starting grinding so I took the timing apart and reset the tensioner and after changing the oil (I figured it was deluded with gas cause of the bad sensor) it worked wonderfully. Until last night. Today i've had the timing apart 3 times, each time i reset the tensioner jam it all back together, dump oil in it, fire the car up and it sounds great. Until I take it for a drive, once the car gets past 3000 rpm the chain starts grindings again (even at idle). Does this sound like a stretched timing chain, a bad tensioner, something else????, or am I missing something and just got lucky setting the chain the first two times. I've become quiet tired of dumping large quantities of money into this car every week.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

When my water pump went, the idiots at the dealership fixed everything, including a new timing chain but not the tensioner,my mom picked up the car and when she pulled into my driveway it was ticking loudly,so I would replace the tensioner.

The tensioner's less than a month old by the way, could it have gone bad already.

Make sure you're setting the chain correctly...

I know on my 2.4, I had some wierd probs with the timing chain going loose, then tight when the crank was rotated..

I fixed it by installing the timing chain guides LAST. Any other way I would do it, the chain would show slack in some spots and real tight in others..

I read my chiltons carefully, and thats when I noticed it said to install the guides last.

Just a thought.. Could be a bad tensioner too, just because its new, doesnt mean its good.

Well yesterday, bought a new chain, jammed it in and put the guides in last and everything was wonderful. Drove it last night and to work dismorning, still worked. Leaving work a buddy of mine was sitting in his integra watching so I let er eat, 5000 rpm first three gears up the road and when I let off I heard the all familiar growl of the timing chain. So anyone know what the warranty is on my tensioner its less than 3 months old and is strait from the dealer. I ether want to return it for the old spring style tensioner or ill have to buy one. And then once the car works for more than a week im sellin the bag of $h!t.
