Check engine + traction control
Saturday, June 23, 2007 11:02 PM
My motor has hit 100,000 and seems like it wants to stop going. I take my car back and forth from work. Its just a few miles than when i want to go some where. Ive had it for since 03. now i recently replaced the radiator fan a/c because it when out. Now recently (about 2 - 3 days) My car starts and the engine light and Traction control like turn on. After my car warms up and i get on the road my T/c light will turn off. I checked the oil and radiator fluid both are fine. Im going to take it to a mechanic over my weekend (Mon & Tue.) to have a mechanic check the lights. Does anyone have any idea as to what this could be?

Is the abs light on also ? If it is your likely looking at a bad wheel speed sensor

I know this sounds funny, but I bet it is your IAC sensor. It cause all kind of weird Trac off lights in my car. I have no idea how they could even be slightly related.

Is that the one that plugs into the intake tube? If so, I'd probably agree with you on that being the problem. When I put a little resistor in that sensor and left it unplugged like it told me to do, the traction control light would stay on for as long as the sensor was unplugged, and if it was unplugged for a long enough time, then the check engine light would come on and it would start shifting so hard that it could probably break a mount if repeated. So yea, I'd get that checked out, maybe take it to an Advance Auto Parts and get a code check if anything...

Ok for one,if your talking about the cheap 10 cent resistors that they sell on Ebay for $8,please throw it in the trash, does nothing but make you run rich and waste gas.For two when you put that resistor in the IAT sensor(which is the one in the intake tube) you are supposed to fold it over and plug it back in.I know this because I made the same mistake before learning about this ORG.

I took my car to the dealer ship to run diagnostics. I also had them flush the transmition fluid and clean the throttle body. Turns out I had a bad spark plug wire. As soon as I replaced them it was working good. No engine lights or traction control lights. Thanks for all of your replies.
