Clicking behind steering wheel/dash

Obviously happens when I turn the wheel. It sounds like it's coming from right behind the wheel in the steering column. I also have an after market wheel on with momo hub.

i have the same problem with my 2005 cavalier. my guess is that the bearings? or whatevers in there are worn.
i remember it was a problem in the older cavaliers. my grandfather had the same problem repaired in his 99 cav, cost him almost $300 at the dealer. im just going to replace the column for $100 at the wreckers, im pretty sure that will fix it.

^^^^^ you will know what we mean if you hear it. its a really hard sound to describe, kind of a ticking/clicking sound when you turn the wheel. the faster you turn the wheel the faster the noise is. it will even do it with the car at a dead stop.

did it click before you replaced your steering wheel?

Mine makes a sort of whirring sound when its really cold outside, the faster I turn the wheel, the higher pitched and louder it is, but once the heater gets the cab warmed up, it goes away.

Negative. It didn't click right after tho either. I don't think it's that tho because the aftermarket hub and wheel sit right on the steering column like the stock steering wheel would.

i never made it to the wreckers for a column. i had to do brakes on my car. every time i go to get a column i have to fix something else. but i will try again next weekend.

maybe you need to lubricate your intermediate steering shaft, gm are kind of prone to that. if you look on this forum a couple of threads above this one there is a step by step on how to lubricate it, its probably one of the easiest and cheapest things i would do first, but thats just my $0.02.
