battery after wreck

Would a front end collision wreck cause a battery to go dead? Same battery from when I first bought the car. Before the wreck, I never had a problem from the battery at all, but after the wreck,I went to start putting car back together again and the same battery would not hold a charge over night. i just bought a new battery from wally.

appearance wise, the battery looked fine. i'm thinking the sudden impact might have done something, just curious what. as far as how bad wreck was.....both air bags deployed and windsheild busted due to airbag, bumper tore off, both headlights have small cracks, fenders and hood are fine, fog lights both ripped off due to bumper being ripped off.

How bout you? alright? My Stock battery is on the way out. How old is yours? how many miles? Could just be coincidence.

actually, it was my pregnant wife. she was 6 months and now she is 8 1/2 months. thanks for asking. the battery has/had 83,xxx miles. i've already have a new one, i was just curious if a wreck would cause it to die faster.

Yes, it can be damaged by shock (if it's not a spiral wound type Optima style).

The plates are normally only forty thousandths of a inch thick and can be damaged by shock or vibration.

Part of the plate can break off and short the cell.

Are you sure the impact didn't cause some sort of short in the wiring somewhere?
