Will a 2.4 Fuel Pump Fit A 2.2?

I just picked up an entire tank assembly (tank, pump, filler tube, fuel filter, EVAP canister, etc..) from the guy that I bought the car off of (he fixes salvaged Cavs and Sunfires, so he has parts in every nook and cranny of his warehouse).

Two problems:

1) He didn't know what year it came from, just that it was from a GT
2) It's from a 2.4 and the car I need it to go on is a 2.2

Assuming the '2.2 car' in question is the '99 Sunfire in your profile, and the pump is from a '95 or newer GT.....

Then yes, it will work.

Just to make sure, check the part #.....should be gm part # 22631715

If it doesn't have that part number, and it's a gm (AC Delco) pump, I wouldn't use it.

Yeah, wow, sorry, my bad. My post was pretty friggin' vague... It's been a long, long, longgggggg day running from scrap yard to scrap yard.

Thanks for the info though, and I'll go check the part number right now. I know for sure that the gas tank is stamped with a "1999" as I remember seeing that when I threw it in my truck, so fingers-crossed, the pump matches up.

check that out before you get a pump, something to consider.

So I've got pics of the fuel pump/assembly that I got. The part number reads: 22622085

Any insight would be greatly appreciated as I'm planning on dropping the tank tomorrow (Sunday, June 24) as that is my day off.

(With respect to the upgrade Greg Z., thanks, I was looking at that before, however, the Sunfire I'm working on is simply my GF's daily-driver, so I'll think we'll save that swap for mine. Thanks again.)
