I am wanting to know if my 96 Z will hook up to a 2000 Z ECM is that possible or will I need a new wiring harness, reason being is that I have a 2000 head on a 96 block and I have a feeling that I need to change it so if someone could let me know I would appreciate it.

2000+ ecm needs all the class 2 wiring and crap associated with it... it's a pain in the arse to swap it all, including the airbag module, bcm, cluster, etc.
The 99-02 2.4L head is practically identical to the 96-98 2.4L head. You won't have any issues re-using the 96 electronics.
