My 91 Z24 (3.1V6) has recently started having some idling problems. It runs fine cold, but once it gets warmed up, the car has a rough idle accompanied by an unburned gasoline smell. Sometimes the idle is very rough. Also, it is sometimes difficult to start the car when warm, requiring 2-3 cranks. In contrast, it starts easily when cold, never requiring more than one crank.
I have so far removed the Ignition control module and coils and tested them; they check out fine. I've removed the front spark plugs and they look ok.
Can anyone offer suggestions about what to check next? Thanks.
Air filter isn't terrible, but I got a new one just in case. I know it's not a clogged cat because I've had one of those before (not on this car) and it's not acting like that.
How are the sparkplug wires? Might check the rear plugs too while you are checking the wires. I dunno how old your current wires are, but if they are the original ones, I would spend the 35 bucks or so for a new set, and replace the plugs anyway for farts and giggles.
i have the same problem with my 01 cav.. but for me.. its evap sys...
