My Cavalier's Starter (2003 Ecotec) has a bad spot on it, so eventually I am going to have to replace it. Before it gets really bad, I need to know, who makes the best starter for the engine, and how much involvment is there in replacing the starter on this engine? When I did my Civic's 12 year old starter it was real easy, because the starter was on top of the gearbox in easy reach from the top. I hope this is the same way, no?

So the default one is the best? And how do I come across getting a new one when even GM sells the remans? Not that I would not mind a reman, just as long as it doesn't burn a hole in my pocket!

Nothing wrong with a reman. Just a used case with all new parts.
I have a 1997 2.2L Sunfire. What starter motors would work on this engine? Would the starter's from the 2.4 Ls work? How about the 2002+ models?
