For the longest time, i have had
this problem with my sunroof on my 1999 Pontiac Sunfire GT. However, after taking out the switch, the sunroof actually started opening, but it needed a push to help it. now the sunroof won't shut, the motor keeps turning, but the sunroof doesn't move. any suggestions?
I broke the little red plastic piece so I could manually lower the sunroof. But i just noticed that when the motor keeps turning, the bolt that i normally manually turn, doesn't move at all. Should I replace the little red piece? it was my understanding that that piece you didn't need.
thanks! is it in good shape? how much do you think shipping would be?

the little red piece can be pulled right out. Its what locks the gear turned by the motor to the gear that actually does the work to open/close sunroof. If you want to manually close the sunroof with an allen key, you must pull the red plastic piece out...
does anyone have an extra red piece?
it doesn't seem that easy to take out... when i tried before, it seemed very difficult and it ended up breaking....what is the best way to do it (or the best tool to use without breaking the red piece itself.?)
does anyone have an extra red piece?????
