i was wondering how you re build the head on a 97 cav 2.2
Ummm... the same way you rebuild the head on any pushrod inline-4? The first thing I do when I get a car is buy the correct full factory service manual. Expect to pay $40 to $100 depending on condition and make/model. It will detail exactly how to do everything, including step by step instructions and specifications to "rebuild the head". Check on eBay, then at dealerships.
Take it to a machine shop that deals with engine cylinder heads, ask for a 3 angle valve job and new valve guides (avoid knurling if possible), have them Helicoil the sparkplug holes (saves possible stripping issues later), and make sure you have them run a tap down ALL threaded holes to clean the threads up. This sort of work varies in cost, but expect to pay upwards of 250-350 bucks. You might even ask them to polish up the combustion chambers for you too, although thats definitely not necessary, but it COULD help prevent detonation in the future. If you intend to boost or run juice, DEFINITELY have the comb. chambers polished. If they have to deck the head, ask them how much they had to shave off, and then use a comparably thicker head gasket to maintain compression ratio. Cometic makes excellent head gaskets. Also make sure you replace your head bolts with new ones, once they are torqued at the factory, they are stretched and cannot be safely reused.
