OK guys this is my problem, about a month ago I pulled the motor out of my Z24, and rebuilt it. Mind you this is my first motor swap and I had no idea what to expect. First of all I don't know if I have the wiring for the for the starter right.
I have the small purple wire with the fusible link (GM Recall) for the crank on the small bolt on the solenoid, and the battery and alternator wires on the larger bolt. All the rest on the harness go to the two grounds on the block. I moved the battery to the trunk while I was waiting for the motor to be built so its never been tested. I have a 1g wire running from the red wires on the fuse holder and starter to the trunk and the battery is grounded to the frame.
Now the old wire that ran from the neg side of the battery and grounded on the tray ran to the block, right? Cause now I have it running from the bolt on the block to the frame, does that sound right?
My last questions is in regards to the theft-lock system thats on my car. Since the cars been apart for so long does the system have to be reset. I tried to turn the car over to just to see if my wiring was right, but all I got was a small click from the solenoid.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, again this is my first project of this magnitude, and I know I've made some mistakes along the way

The wiring seems correct and the fact that you get a small click from the solenoid indicates this but, could mean you still have a bad connection somewhere!
Were ALL the grounding points "shiny" clean before you reconnected them?
The lower large bolt which is connecting the output end of the solenoid to the starter windings does not LOOK shiny clean?
I would disconnect the battery and check/clean all the connections, reconnect and try again.

Ok cool i'll try that. One more detail, the bottom end is assembled but there is no head on the motor and not all the sensors are plugged in. All I wanted to do was turn the key for 1 sec and see if the starter engages (To Check My Wiring). Would it work or will everything have to be put together. I'll clean everything up and check back.
OH YA.. guess what I fixed it. I was looking through some older pics showing my grandmother what my car looked like when it wasn't all torn apart and I found a picture of the starter before I ripped it all apart. Turns out the the tiny black wires goes to the starter, not the ground on the block. I just touched the key and the starter engaged for a split second. Thanks for your suggestion Alont, everything should have been clean in the first place.
