well im needing to replace my rotors as they are a little warped and there is slight cracking in the rotors. im looking for something to replace my current stock rotors. what does everyone recomend? What is going to be a good all around but still inexpensive rotor (under 140 for a set). Where is a good place to buy from? I sent jason with A+ a pm i know he is a very good seller and would like to support his business. Oh and its for an 05 cavalier. I have 43000 miles does that sound right for replacing rotors. ( i bought it new in 04 and a lot of those miles are city) and there is no preferance on slotted or drilled or slotted and drilled any is fine and also what is everyones experience with slotted or drilled or both? thanks a ton in advance
anyone im needing to order tonight lol
click here i found these is its the cheapest i have found those rotors for. gravanatuning has the exact same ones but for 169.95
here
stock is best
- 2004 Cavalier - 124k, owned since new
i beg to differ on that but ok
well wouldnt the slotted and drilled ones be better for the price as it is 102 vs 130 plus shipping
I dislike drilled rotors myself. Just something about loosing the rotor surface area and introducing holes doesn't sit well with me. More rotor material equals better heat cycling.
true true but i have heard good things about them to so i think im going to get them cant beat them for the price and hey its only 100 bucks so if it doesnt work out like i hoped im not out to much
Drilled rotors tend to crack around the holes, and since most of your driving is city, your brakes will get VERY hot from the stop and go and lower speeds, they will crack even faster, use slotted rotors.

Sounds to me like you have been sucked into the ricer hole.
Unless you are planning on upgrading to a big brake kit (which you certainly aren't going to be doing for $150), you will experience decreased braking performance from a drilled rotor. You lose too much surface area, that is why cars that use drilled rotors, use bigger rotors. This compensates for the loss of surface area. Drilled rotors are very prone to cracking and/or shattering.
What is good about them?? Better for brake fade (debateable). So unless you have a ton of money to invest into your brakes, you aren't going to be happy/safe in the long run with cross drilled....you might look cool though (to a 16 year old).

well thanks so does any one have an other suggestions as what brand to get? or does it really matter
Powerslot slotted rotors.
thats what i am about 5 sec away from ording just trying to keep my options open in case someone else had some ideas thanks
I just noticed this thread, I just put on Powerslots after work, along with EBC Greenstuff's. HUGE difference over stock GM pads and rotors.
Now my car and my motorcycle use EBC pads.

Lifes too short to drink cheap beer.
www.buybrakes.com they give discounts and all sorts of stuff when you spend over $100. I got the Hawk HPS pads and powerslot rotors. my baer decela cross drilled and slotted brakes cracked all to hell and were not very good. just make sure you condition them when you get them.
ok thanks ill go with the powerslot and whats the difference between the hawk pads and the ebc greenstuff also what do you mean by condition them just look them over and make sure they look ok or something else lol
they are sent to you and there is a paper in there that tells you how to do it. you basically get up to speed and slow down but never stop. so you need open road that is long and not busy at all. it literally took me an hour to break them in. i did mine at about midnight so there was little traffic. I like my hawk pads. Virtually dustless. i love them. like i said. check out www.buybrakes.com fast shipping and great stuff with discounts after you buy. you could order most of it seperately. like rotors if they are over $100 and use the discount on the pads. and i HIGHLY recommend the Russel Stainless lines. best brake mod ive done.
ok then im confused as to what rotors to get as they dont have the same powerslot ones i was wanting hm
