OK, so I had to rip the A/C compressor out of my 99 Z24 since the bearing was shot. Replaced it with the bypass pully from GM. The belt squealed a little, but would die off shortly after starting car. A week later (2 days ago) I installed both upper mount insert and lower mount (engine). The belt still screams on startup, for up to 30 seconds. I bought a new one to replace it (the old belt didn't look that bad tho), but now I can't get the old one off! It seems that when I release the tensioner it's still not slack enough.
Help! Do I need to remove the mounts to replace my belt? And is there any reason why it's just now starting to make noise?

it'll go on/off, but the new one will seem tight as hell, and sometimes it is just a pain in the butt to do.

Fair enough, but I had little problems with getting the belt off to change the pully... and this is the same belt I'm trying to take off now.

is there no slack at all in the tensioner when attempting to install the new belt? If that is case, try getting a belt thats like an inch shorter.
No, the tensioner releases fine.
I JUST put my belt back on last weekend after changing out the a/c compressor for a bypass, and then installed engine mounts. Now I am trying to remove that same belt, but it is too tight to come off. And when I start the car cold, the belt screams, whereas it didn't before.

was the bypass pulley the same diameter as the ac pulley?
The bypass pulley, they are different for the 2.4,2.2,should be a direct replacement and you should be able to use your stock belt.I deleted my compressor and did not use the bypass pulley.I went through 5 belts to find one that was tight but not to tight and for awhile it squealed like crazy. When it's cold out it will squeal on occasion.Go buy some belt dressing spray from Autozone to help or try another size belt.

This belt I am using is the one that's been on the car since i got it (40K ago). I took it off and put it back on fine after installing the bypass... now I can't get it off. Once i release the tensioner, it's still to tight.
