before you start, i did a search, i did not find what i was looking for.
99 sunfire, 3spd auto.
checked the fuse, replaced the brake switch.
stupid haynes, had no pictures and did not tell me if there was a module under the hood or not, or if there is, where is
it located?
any help?
Just follow the 2 cables going to your throttle body. One goes to the gas pedal, the other goes to the cruise control. My cruise quit working for awhile becaus I had a vaccum leak at the throttlebody, it took me a month or so to figure it out. Other than that, I don't know much about cruise control.
thanks, i will check that out, brain did not think of that,
any others with tips?
my cruise controal wont even work...like i put it to set and move the switch and nothing happens..its completely dead! i have an 02 sunfire 4speed auto...any ideas?

I had the same problem and I noticed that the cable was excessively loose. I just adjusted it and it was good.
which cabtle are you talking about? and why would that cable be the reason that my cruise is not even showing up on the dash or working?

That was the one to the throttle body
so if its loose i adjust and it takes the cruise control...it seems to me like an electrical problem..

Those cruise switches could be the problem they are a pain in the a**. They're known to have the contacts burn out very often...alot of my buddies have had that problem...but keep looking elsewhere the switch is 80 bucks without labor if you cant do it yourself
Good luck
wheres the contact that usually burns out?

It is inside the switch itself. its the metal sliders that when you push the switch connect with tabs or contacts which complete the circuit. from what i understand it is not worth the time to take it apart and clean/repair the contacts. Again this is what I know from what my buddies have told me they know more since they took it apart.
