I have a 99 Cav 2.2. When its cold/cool out the car starts and fires without issue. When its "hot" out, 85+ i need to push the gas pedal to start it. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
I don't know much about the 2200 and non Ecotec 2.2L, but I had a similar problem with my Winter Car when the temperatures became unusually warm in January. Moisture in the air would condense on my distributor cap and wreak havoc on my attempts to start the car. The solution was as simple as dousing the distributor cap, wires, coil, and all connections with WD-40 to displace water. Try it out. Let the it soak in for awhile and see if you have an easier time starting it. Good luck.
I will give that a shot for sure. Any other ideas?
i had that prob. w/ my 2.2 when it happened to me my temp. sensor fell off because i broke the clip when it starts hard is it after running? because it's probebly choking itself out like mine did. or may b try to change your thermostat.
4 door civic on the way

i need a daily driver
My "new" 1998 2.2 beater had the same problem until I found that the IAT sensor was unplugged.
BTW, PB Blaster > WD40. WD40 has its place, but PB blaster penetrates better than anything else I've found, and it doesn't evaporate until it hits smoking point. That means you don't have to keep dousing your ign parts with it. It's an absolute godsend for things that you don't want to break like exhaust manifold bolts/studs, fuel fittings, brake lines...
