More AC woes...
Friday, May 25, 2007 11:38 PM
Alright, my AC isn't blowing cold air.
The dealer recharged it once, probly twice, lasted about a day.
I personally used a refrigerant once, it lasted about a day.
I just tried using one of the UV tester ones tonight, and the only spot that glowed was around the top port where I sprayed the stuff in. Other then that I didn't see any other spots glowing so I'm assuming it's not leaking. However, the system was at 0 psi.

Please tell me what's wrong.

What is your high side and low side pressures.

Obviously if your losing all the refridgent in a day, you have a leak, better look harder.

Well, after spraying in the uv crap the psi was at 45, which I guess is the normal psi. I checked it again this morning and it was almost at 0, so I must have a leak somewhere, just not seeing it. I gotta take it to a damn shop or something.

Probably the evap wich is behind the dashboard...that is why you canīt find it in the engine bay.

That's where it could be leaking from? Where exactly is it behind the dash? Could I see it just by taking off the top pad or is it under a bunch of stuff?

The evaporator is usually in the middle, lower part behind the dash board, in my car it is not leaking but it seems to be clogged with debris ( so few air goes through and comes out of the vents ) I will have it cleaned soon. I believe it is like a small radiator but do no know if you can see it without major work although I think there was a thread in which someone said he cleaned it with a wire brush just removing the blower or something, search for it, you may be able to check for leaks with the tester.

These things seem to be bad about compressor leaks. Other than that , sometimes the evaporator(near the heater) gets leaks in them. If you have a greasy film on the inside of your windshield, that's probably it. If not, you might check the compressor for leaks.

No greasy-ness here.
