Hey Everyone.
My Lady friend, just bought a '99 Sunfire, and was told the clutch was toast when she bought it (got it for $1000cad)
The clutch is definately screwed, however, when i started it, and pulled it into gear, the speedometer shot up to about 50km/h( 30mph) and made a harsh grinding noise. Now FWD/ 4Cyl Cars arnt my expertise, so i have no idea whats goin on with this.
I know my car has its VSS at the tail shaft of the tranny, but im guessing a RWD car is different. If the VSS is at the end of the tranny, would a broken tail shaft cause the tranny to rub into the VSS? Is the VSS near the front, and perhaps ahve a broken input shaft?
Like i said, Car does NOT move, its starts, and teh gears seem as if their grinding a bit. I cant tell if the clutch seems bad, but its makes a grinding noise and the speedometer shoots up.
Any help is appreciated. As i said, i have next to know knowledge towards the fwd cars other then the basic cross over stuff from a V8/RWD.
Thanks so much!
Sheldon
