Odometer reading failure
Wednesday, May 02, 2007 7:54 PM
i have an 02 cavalier with the electric odometer... for some reason just recently the odometer should read 132800 but now would read 1_2_0_ and the trip does the same but if i press anywhere on the guage face it reads fine... i thought that the whole odometer readout was one bulb... or is it the electronic screen that is fired out... anyone with answers would be greatly appreciated thanks...

I would try to unplug youre neg post on youre cars battery, For a few mins, Then hook it backup see, If that corrects anything, If not, You may need a new Cluster unit.

Good Luck.

The 2k+ clusters have a habit of intermittent lighting, give the dash a good smack with the palm of your hand and notice how the odo will work fine. Repeat if needed.

i've had a cluster replaced under warranty because of that. it seems as though whatever the connector it is that displays the odometer tends to get loose, pressing on the corners of the clear display cover tends to bring it back up and lit again. So, i carried this on for 8 yrs now. now, it stays out completely, u can barely make out the reading, so it does display somewhat, but only with the trained eye. i dunno what can be done to fix it, cuz it seems pretty common, may not be worth throwing too much money on it
