Fuel Sender short?
Thursday, May 24, 2007 11:13 AM
I got an issue, its been raining for a bit here for the past few days, and i hit a few puddles, couple inches deep at most, and my check engine light came on. I got home everything seemed fined other than the light on. On monday, i started up, drove a bit, then my fuel light came on, and hte fuel gauge said full, then started falling right to E. Everytime i restart the car, it goes to full, then 20 seconds later drops to E. WOuld this be a wet wire at the PCM/Fuel tank or what? And if it is wiring, can i just dry it out or would hte fuel sender need to be replaced?

I would take a look into the wiring harnesses near the rear area, By the fuel tank, Could have some grime on the contacts, Causing a improper signal reading to youre PCM.

for this to be checked, does the tank have to be dropped or can i access it from the bottom or under the rear seat access

ill also add that the gauge reads full when ignition is on acc on, without engine on. then as soon as the engine runs, it starts dropping

From under the car, just in front of the rear axle... you can see three connectors. The big one is the fuel tank/pump/sender... the small two are the EVAP control and the rear ABS (if you have ABS)
