Ok here's the problem. When I turn on my headlights, the drivers side turn signal will not blink and both the signal and the headlight are both very dim (could hardly tell the turn signal was on). When the headlights aren't on, the turn signal is bright and works fine. Also, my dash turn signal light comes on when my headlights are on. So I'm thinking a short, right? Have no clue where it is shorting out. Can anyone offer some helpful advice?
I think you have a malfunction in youre turn signal & head light switch, (Its indicating needs replacing).
Good Luck.
Ok so anyone have any instructions on how to change the column switch? I ordered a book but will take a week to get here and want to get it done now.

A good link would do nicely. Please and thank you.
No its not the switch in the column.....
So when you turn on your headlights, the turn signal bulb goes dim.
What you need to do is get a voltmeter that measures DC volts.
You need to see how much voltage you have there with headlights off, and then on, it shouldnt drop any voltage, but obviously is.
As I said before you have excessive resistance someplace in this circuit.
Excessive resistance includes, bad or loose connection, if its loose, its harder for eletricialty to flow, causing a drop in voltage. If it is full of corrosion, thats big time resistance.
You can test the resistance of the ground side by switching your voltmeter to OHMs, and going from your turn siganl ground wire to the frame, shouldnt be any resistance, or very very littel.

Well hubby figured out the problem. He tore apart everything light related and followed it all back to find a ground wire that somehow was cut. Thanks to everyone for their helpful suggestions!
To point this out
A ground wire cut, so doing a resistance check on the ground side would have found this out, it would have read OFL.
