Potential problem? General questions
Wednesday, May 16, 2007 1:14 PM
Just a few questions dealing with a few different things.
First off, when lowering my ebrake it's starting to feel like there's maybe some rust, or gravel somewhere and it's grinding (or feels that way) would it be safe to place some oil in the mechanisms under the center console in order to keep things moving smooth?

The second thing is, I'd like to get the gm supercharge shortly down the line here, and I had read that once you do the gm reflash you can't use HPtuners, well for me that's not a big deal because noone near me has it. But, if I was to get the reflash, and somewhere later met someone that had HPT would it be possible to pick up a computer from another sunfire at a wreckers and than use the hpt?

I actually had a couple more questions but I can't think of them right at this moment so I'll throw them in here if I can remember them.

Ah yes, I remember another. I need to clean my engine, and have the stuff to do so. But after I have, should I be able to use tire shine on hoses in the compartment to get them looking shiny and pretty?

Also, on my gf's 02 sunfire we removed the side moldings and used goo gone to get off what we thought was all the glue. It felt like it was all off, but after cleaning and waxing, some of the wax built up in spots along where it had been. What would be the best way to clean that off?

1. Yes, you can lube the mechanisms, I would recommend lithium grease

2. If you have an eco and get the reflash gm locks your ecu so it can no longer be tampered with. This can be taken care of with the use of another ecu, junkyard and such. What year do you have you might have to do the fuel rail swap.

3. Go to the car wash, spray the engine down with the tire cleaner setting. Continue to clean the rest of the car. Start the engine, and spray it down with the hi-pressure setting. If the car stutters, back off, once it comes back, continue.

4. I would say wet sand it, that should take care of it

I've been out of town so didn't read this sooner, but thank you very much, and I have an 03.
