I am trying to hard wire a radar detector into my lighter down on the console because I heard it only has power when the key is on. My problem is it doesn't have power at all but the one on the dash has power all the time. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

Both Cig lighters in my car were on all the time. Id suggest tapping off the wiper fuse, or the ign wire for a radar detector.

Check your fuses, and Cig lighter are ON all the time.

cig lighter is definitely always on, on my car it's connected to the horn as well.

Plug it to the ING fuse...car turns on, radar will turn on also.....car turns off, radar will go off

i thought i read once on here that the one in the console was only one with key and the dash one was on all the time

Check it with a multimeter, don't believe what you read
