95 Cavalier 2.2 Alternator

Hey guys looking for some advice here, I recently had an alternator on my car making a bunch of chirping/grinding/sqeeking noise so I changed it out, it looked old so I figured it was just it's time to be changed it was still charging just wasn't charging enough. I changed the belt and alternator (it was a very tight fit) and it feels like the alternator has a lot of stress on it like the belt would be too tight but I still have slack in the tensioner. It now is making that same noise just much quieter then the old one. Anyone have any problems with alternator noises?

mine did the same thing, i had 4 alternators replaced last year, mine was caused by high wattage sound systems. i don't know if you have a system or not, but if you do and you don't have a capacitor that could be the problem. there's a little gear inside the alternator that charges the car, the gear is probably going bad...

You may have experienced an alternator bearing that was leaking grease because the
seals failed...

When this happens the grease will contaminate the belt and pulleys, and the belt will
slip, squeel, and chirp...

Try some brake parts cleaner, spray it on the suspect areas while the engine is
running...
