When I fired up the car for a first time in 6 months.. it runs fine, smoothly. So I took it for a spin, everything is fine. Then I left it alone till next day or so.. alternator went out. So I had to replace it.
Then when I try to fire up the car again... idling isnt normal anymore, so I checked there my pressure gauge on my Aeromotive "A1" inline fuel pump, it stays (0) psi? means no pressure at all... So I checked a vaccum line, its fine, its still sucking.
In maybe 10 - 15 seconds later the idling starts choking and exhaust starts backfiring.
I dont know what to do now... I know the car have been sitting for about 6 months, untouched.
When I unhook the fuel line off the pump, gas started coming out. Its a good sign... so what else can I look at to solve the problem!
I just cant wait to have the car back on road!
Oh right I forgot to add that Ive already replaced the Fuel Filter..
OK! Hope you guys can help me this time..
So far I've done;
Fuse - replaced
Fuel Filter - replaced
Fuel Pump - pretty much of fuel came out to injectors system when I fired it up.. in few seconds later, it just stops and dies.
Vaccum Line - Works fine.
Fuel Regulator - Im not sure if this is the one... the red cirle.
Its how mine hooked up like that with Aeromotive "A1" inline fuel pump.
Dad and I have been reading Haynes book.. we still havent got to the point to a solution yet. If we have no other choice.. then we're going to remove the gas tank....
Please help! Thanks!
Ur prob gonna have to, But First are ur Fuel filter or Spark plugs getting any fuel cuz if not remove it & you'll prob have to get a new fuel module for the gas tank.
Good luck! I wish I could get mine started........
Thanks for the input..
So, tonight, I worked on the car again trying to fix the problem. Strangely, right now the car is running better, it didnt die. But idling is still little rough.
What could it be??
- clogged fuel line?
- air pressure loss?
- fuel pump?
also I still get 0psi on gauge from regulator, the gauge len cover is cracked, so I need to replace it. I guess its no biggie.
Please tell me what you think!
Looks to me like your overworking your fuel system. What is the need for an inline pump? You might have to much pressure and not enough venting for the fuel system. Probably screwed up your injectors with six month old gas. Take out your injectors take a good pic and post it back here if you can please or email it to me.
Well I have a better understanding of how fuel system works now.. The inline fuel pump, its not that, its a fuel regulator! My bad! haha.
I will do that..
Thanks Frank.
Hey just wondering could you screw up ur injectors with 6 month old gas?
yes if ur gastank is steel and rusts peices can break away and gas can break down into turpintine lol and ull have chunks in gas tank of rust ect
Frank, here it is! let me know if u need a better pic
After this pic, I wiped and cleaned up around those injectors. Im ready to put them back in but im not sure what you need to see!
Thanks
Do you have the ablity to get fuel pressure readings at the rail?

Well not really.. but I can say gas did come out after the fuel rail. Does that count?
OK
I installed the injectors and rail back in.. the car runs the same.
When I fired it up, it runs smooth for about 2 minutes.
Then the idling started to get rough "choking" feel... and this whatever it is, it keeps trying to keep the idle over 1,000 rpm when it goes down under 1,000 rpm.
- I still get 0 PSI from my fuel regulator gauge.
- Injectors seems to be fine since it ran smoothly over 2 mintues?
- Could it be one of those sensors?
OR WHAT IS IT?!?!
Where do you hook the fuel pressure gauge? I just bought an Actron Fuel Pressure Tester Kit but can't find the test port to hook up the gauge.
Ok here it is.. the Aeromotive A1 fuel regulator with the pressure gauge.
Mine is stock so where should I get an opening to hook up the gauge?
[I still get 0 PSI from my fuel regulator gauge.]--
---- Phewes---Just checking--is that gauge connected to the INLET side of the Regulator---where the Fuel comes in from the tank? That is where it should be to read Fuel Pressure.
Darkness--On my '93 the OEM method is to disconnect the quick connect in the engine bay (Fuel Supply Line from Fuel Filter to engine bay) and then connect the gauge IN LINE before the fuel rail/fuel pressure regulator

Yes, its where fuel comes in from the fuel rail.

Ok, its what I thought.. so what may be the problem that caused it?
[where the Fuel comes in from the tank?]
Yes, its where fuel comes in from the fuel rail.
So supply is tank/pump/filter---line from filter to Fuel rail--{Pressure Gauge}--Fuel Pressure Regulator--Return line to tank!

Seems like its the fuel pump
Well, Im gonna get a new pump asap!
Thanks man!
Did you get er sorted out phewes
That's going to suck when mine goes out...
...which brings up an interesting question...
...is there a way to make an adapter of some kind which will mount the fuel pump lower into the tank?
Any type of fuel pump replacement sucks especially when I prob wouldn't have neeed it anyway but who knows there?
But any of that shiznit is expensive as shiz usually!
Glad U got ur prob solved though GooD LucK with it.
Be sure to replace the sock that prefilters the fuel as it enters the pump.
