Does anyone know how to change the head gasket on a 98 sunfire? Is it an easy task to do in a couple of hours? The reason I ask is because I recently changed my spark plugs and I noticed oil on them and the car also has a rough idle, any ideas?

Oil on the plugs does not directly equal a head gasket leak. Easiest visual test for a head gasket leak is checking for the presence of coolant in the oil, which will make the oil look like chocolate milk. If you don't see this, to confirm, have a cylinder compression test run. If all 4 cylinders are at an acceptable level and equal, it is likely not a head gasket.

Agreed ... white smoke from the exhaust, rough idle, and I found my oil milky (all tell tale signs). Head gasket! $100 for a gasket set and $70 for new head bolts and not being a mechanic with some good guidance, 3 days and a few beers (lift and tuck technique) Regards, Irv
