I went to "Advanced Auto Parts" today, and had them hook up their OBDII Scan Tool and it pulled these codes.
Codes
P0125
Closed Loop Fuel Control
Insufficient Coolant Temp
P0440
EVAP Emission Control System Malfunction
Pending Codes
P0440
EVAP Emission Control System Malfunction
Okay, so here's the story...
I had the engine replaced in December with another '99 2.4. Since December, the car has had no heat. The mechanic installed a NEW thermostat, possibly a defective one. I'll need to do the work myself on this one, and I have little experience with the motors in these cars. So where is the thermostat housing exactly, and how do I swap it out with a new one? (I'm assuming it's stuck in an open position, keeping the coolant flowing constantly. Hence the motor never warming up to give me heat.)
What is the EVAP Emission Control System Malfunction? Sounds VERY technical...
Anyone else ever come across the codes?
Thanks to anyone posting helpful advice. This car is a daily driver, so I need to keep it on the road.

I have a 02 eco and i have had that code pop up also. From what people told me, it is just something with the gas cap. I was told that if the gas cap is lose or something that it will make that code pop up. The last time that it popped up, i put some vasaline on the seal on the cap and it hasn't come back on since. That was about two months ago. However i am not an expert so you may want to see what other people say before doing anything.
Also, if I am way off on what that code means, any feel free to tell me so that i can fix whatever it is.

As far as I know, the gas cap wouldn't effect my car unless it was a 2000+up. So I'm ruling that one out. I always make the cap click when I put it back on anyway, so I know it's on.
I'll look into the "blackbox" theory and let you know what I find.
This car is really becoming a P.I.T.A....It see,s it's starting to have a snowball effect in the repairs department. I went three years with no problems and suddenly EVERYTHING is wrong...AT ONCE!
I hope it IS the black box problem. To reset the computer, I should be able to disconnect the battery for 30 minutes right?
Also, where is the thermostat hidden in these cars? Quickest, EASIEST, way of swapping one out???
Thanks again guys!
P.S.-Do you think we might be able to make the search feature a little more accurate?? I HAVE been searching and everytime I do, it comes up with NOTHING! Yet, as it turns out, there were 2 threads hidden on the site somewhere. I always consider member's flaming other members for not using the search feature, so I make sure I use it ALL THE TIME. Yet, I manage to come up with nothing MOST of the time.

I need to go premium, an edit button would be a major boon here. See
Code P0440 description for info in the Evap code.
