Brake Problem...

Ok, so here's the problem...

When I press on the brakes, the rear brakes "throb" off and on, and there is this (oh boy, i'm trying to make sounds on the internet) deep woooh, woooh, woooh sound, like the ABS is acting up. Now sometimes when it does this the back driver side (as far as I know of) wheel seems to lock up and just slide then it unlocks, rolls, then locks again.

Oh, and the car kind of squats when it does this too

I'm guessing that I just need to go in and have the brakes re-done, but I'm wondering if you guys have any idea what could be wrong exactly...

It started a little after easter (cash has been a little low) after I drove through the mountians, so I'm wondering if I didn't @!#$ up the brakes then...

Thanks for the help guys

your rear brakes are grabbing. this can be most obvious when the brakes are cold and it can go away once they warm up. this happens when you need to replace the shoes or drums (or both and do replace both if you need to) or you may need to re-surface the drum. also make sure nothing leaks and that all the springs work properly. drums and shoes can be complex so if you can't do it on your own best let a professional do this job for you.

I would recommend getting them looked at ASAP, Brakes are not worth putting off, Youre safety is at risk, If youre not sure what to do, Get a buddy or professional to look at whats going on.

Good Luck.

Thanks guys

Yeah, I've got a few friends of mine that are mechanics and they've all offered to look and replace the brakes, so hopefully by the end of the week I will have no more worries.

Thanks again.

And do not go cheap on rear shoes. I put autozone duralast rear shoes on my convertible and I would have to clean the rear brakes out every 3 months or so because the problem you are having woul keep coming back. I got it to stop by switching to GM durastop shoes.
