WTF DO ANY JBODY TURN SIGNALS WORK?? HELP
Wednesday, May 02, 2007 7:28 AM
I am so sick of J bodies, I really want a nice car, lol.

On all of my 3 Js the turnsignals are all Fed up. My GFs red vert has the right rutn signal blinking like crazy when you turn it on. I have replaced all the bulbs, where does the stupid thing ground to so I can run a jumpper wire. I do not care about tracing the wire, I would rahter run another one. I am sure it is a ground but where the F does it ground to?

For my Purple POS both the turn signals are messed up. They both blink way to fast and it is making me go insane. I have not been driving it because of it, it is that annoying. I took apart all the wiring loom and traced the harness but found nothing. Once again I no longer care about doing it the "right" way i would rather run a different wire. Where does this @!#$ ground to?

Or does the ground have the switch on it with constant power? Please help me out, I can stand these cars any more.

Also if anyone knows how to make a 96 isuzu not shift like azz let me know, replace the tranny, TOB, linkages the works, still a piece. Anyone want to trade an auto convertible for a stick convertible?

thanks, sorry for the frustration
Chris

Check your blinker relays. It would not be a ground, fast blinking is caused by low resistance on the blinker circuit. Having a bad ground would higher resistance, hence slower blinking. At least that's how I'm seeing it.

Just an FYI, a cause of fast blinkers in J's is often a burned out or dying tail light.

From what i can remember the rear blinker is on the same circuit as the front, has solved mine and my sisters fast blinker problems twice now.

how the @!#$ can the relay be bad if the bulb is blinking, its obviously current is passing through the relay

I think he was talking about the flasher it self.

Not quite true

Fast blinking is caused by lower resistance i.e. only one lamp flashing---flasher units flash at the correct speed when the correct wattage load is applied to the output circuit. The circuit was designed to flash faster to show there is a fault in the system. A good example of the change in flash rate is if you add a trailer i.e. a third high wattage lamp to the system (without fitting a heavy duty flasher unit)---the indicators flash at a SLOWER rate.

I think having a bad ground on one lamp would not allow current to flow through that lamp and the system would flash at a faster rate.

Chris--are both front and rear indicator lamps flashing on yours and GF's car?

ADMIRAL 558 has the most probable answer and also the all the indicator lamps probably have a separate ground.

Yes the front and back lights flash quickly but only the right side on the GFs vert. For my car everything is messed up, WHERE THE F DO I GROUND THE DAMN $HIT TO? I dont care anymore, where does this stuff ground to on the harness. If it is a bad ground could I just reground it anywhere, or is it a controlled ground for the blinking action?

Might have the wrong bulbs installed. Or the bulbs may be installed backwards (I THINK you can do that). Sounds weird, but one of the filaments is lower wattage than the other and if the bulb is installed backwards the problem you describe could happen. Try taking the bulb out and putting it back in the other way. Like I said, I'm not sure if the bulbs are keyed to go in one way or not, but it certainly can't hurt to check.
