2000 z24. Abs light was on first then check engine light came on!! I know this is a common problem but I guess I am paranoid!!!! HELP
Sometimes just turning the car off for a half a minute or so will make the lights go off. If they donīt reset the computer and see if the lights come back.(Switch in on position with engine off, disconnect the negative terminal of the bat. wait some 5 mins. then switch to off position and reconnect the neg from battery). When a warning light comes on I get paranoid too...
i think everyone should build a good relationship with their mechanic, unless if you do all your maintenance yourself, be loyal to them, and they will take care of you, including free scans, since it be very likely they'd be the ones fixing it for you. this may be 2 seperate problems. i been driving with my ABS light on for 2 yrs now, its because i need to replace the ABS module, since i dont hvae that high cash flow, i just drive carefully so i dont skid. but for the engine light, get it scanned see what it says. take care of your mechanic, ur mechanic takes care of you!

with the abs light on, dont hog on the brakes, I drove with it for a few weeks till I had my rear wheel hubs replaced.
Will a CEL scanner pick up the Abs problem? or do you need a tech 2?
A CEL scanner can pick it up depending on the scanner.
In some cases... there a trac control off or ABS (cant remember which one) that lights up if thers a problem that might accure with the car (but not involing the brakes). Then the CPU goes thru a check list/points on the car, then if the problems really there, it lights up the CEL.
ex: I had a bad smell of exhaust fumes in the car one day. The trac off or abs (still cant remember) lit up. Drove for a few more miles then the CEL lit up. Went to Autozone to check it out and I had a O2 try to flake on me! Fixed it blah blah blah.
Have it checked out!
