Cylinder head

okay so ive been having car troubles. my car just died on me on the highway one day and hasnt started since. i was driving it on the highway and it just cut out on me. then it wouldnt start. everytime i just to start it it just started smoking. when i try to start it sounds like a whinning noise. im not really good at describing sounds so thats the best i can do. and it doesnt even want to try to start.

so i checked the plugs and three of them were fouled out. so i bought new ones and same problem. so i pulled the head off and inspected it and it doesnt look good. theres alot of crap along the front of the head. and theres a piece of the head missing right by one the water jacket holes. i cant find the piece either. i know that it didnt go down through the piston cause there aint no scratches what so ever on the walls of any of the cylinder holes. so im thinking that the piece went up with the coolant. so now its prolly sitting at the top of my radiator. i dont see it going any other place but there. is that possible?

i know that i need a new head. so thats not a question. my question is could that be stopping my motor from starting? and also could i have a blown motor? how do you tell if your motors blown? i have a video with sound on it while trying to start it. im just not sure how to get it on here. maybe i can email it to someone and have them put it on here for me.

i have a picture of the head in my profile. the part thats circled is the place where its missing the piece. cause i dont know how to post pictures in the post.

i have a 2200 99 cavy with 125k.

thanks for any help,
nick

First thing I would ask you, Are you overheating? or have over heated beyond the red area temp gauge?. It looks to me you got a cyl head gasket issue, I would look into getting a remanifactured cyl head for extra insurnace, Even with a compression test done to the cyl head, & cyl head resurfaced, I think New head bolts and remanifactured cyl head, You should be back in business.

good luck.

It had overheated once. it had warped the head so i had it resurfaced. ran fine for about 10 months now this. how much do you think i can get a different head for?

I believe remanifactured cyl head is about $300-350 for one. Could be cheaper, then with head gasket / new head bolts / upper motor gasket kit. Looking around 600-700 with youre labour, If a garage mechanic doing the job $200-250 in labor cost.
