Well I have never attempted to change brake pad on an ABS system. I am wonder if there is any thing I need to know before I change them? I am suspect I am going to have to discount the battery and then use the clamp to compress the brake cylinder to fit the new pads on?
Nothin different really, you dont have to disconnect the battery or anything...remove the caliper and push the piston back. Install pads and rotors, remount caliper...
I've been told to open the bleeder before you compress the piston. You don't want to force dirty old fluid back through the ABS system, but have it bled out then top up the reservoir. At the very least, doing that wouldn't hurt anything.
I'm sure that wouldn't hurt anything, just seems a little unnecessary

just slow depress the piston. if anything brake fluid will pass the master cylinder cap and leak past the cap...no damage will be done
i was told the same thing. crack the bleeder open to stop the forcing of dirty fluid back up in to the cylinder. IMO its cheap insurance. cause those ABS Master Cylindars are EXPENSIVE. i quoted for a while ago for like 700 bucks. most of them are dealer items. but for us J owners there probably a Dime a Dozen. but either way. not fun OR cheap to replace. its not hard to crack the bleader just take the extra 10 seconds
just make sure u dont get air back into the system when doing that (closing the bleeder too slow when done)
