I'm working on my friends 91 2.2 cavi and it starts up and runs fine for a while then it starts missing. I checked it out and when its missing its getting no spark at cylinders 1 and 4 so i replaced that coil and the problem is still there. I dont know much about these cars so any ideas would be appreciated.
Is the wiring to the coil good still? PCM outputing to it right?

I used to race cars, now I race myself.

Check all your connections for corrosion. Lots of issues like that have been solved by cleaning all the connectors. Someone even went to the extreme of cleaning every connector in the engine bay and that resolved his issues.
I checked for corrosion on the connectors for the coil and the module and didnt see any but i cleaned them anyway, I cleaned the battery cables and made sure they were tight. I put a coil i know was good on just in case i got a bad one so im sure its not the coil now. I was thinking it might be the module but i figured both coils wouldnt work if it was that..
