I'm getting ready to do a clutch job on my '03 cavy and I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get one of the brace things they use at the dealership to hold the motor up while you take the tranny out. I know a tech at a local dealership but when I asked him about it he said that they get them from some special company and he didn't think I could just buy one from the dealership. Thanks for any help!

You need a clutch alignment tool to.

He means an engine support.
It holds the engine in place, in the engine compartment of the car, while you remove the tranny. Since the tranny and engine support each other in FWD cars, to remove only one the other must be supported in some manner.
An overhead hoist works well, if you have one in your shop. A 'cherry-picker' engine hoist cal also be used. Some people also use a tranny jack or other means of support from the bottom, but that tends to get in the way if you're pulling the tranny out that way.
If you want an actual FWD engine support contraption, however, one place to check is here:

Some well-worded Google searches should give you some other choices.

just take a nice peice of tube steel like 1/4 inch or thicker measure it out accross the engine bay and make some mounts that will mount to or just hold the bar to ur strut towers and a chain to the engine mounts and a load binder to pull the chain tight so the motor wont sag when u relase the tranny i know a local mechanic that has used this idea for years no problem or u be like me 2 floor jacks on engine and 4 people pulling the manual out of my 04 Ram 1500 haha that was fun put it back in the same way same 4 people
