So I had the water pump and timing chain and all that replaced the other day... I pick my car up and the abs light comes on on the way home plus my radio doesn't work. I get home and pop the hood and my radio doesn't work because they hooked my power cable up to the negative terminal... I swiched terminals and went to start my car back up and nothing... I finally got the car to start just by trying over and over again. Once running every light on my dash was on expce the CEL. Brake, airbag, flashing daytime running lights, seat belt (while wearing it) you name it... I brought it back to the place that fixed my water pump and timing chain and come to find out they had my computer reprogrammed and broke a ground cable. They replaced the ground cable while i was there for the 2nd time hoping that was the problem, but still the same thing... now if i turn the steering wheel back and forth some of the dash lights go out, and my tach starts working. Plus there is a buzzing coming from the relay in the fuse box... Any suggestions? 98 z24 5spd. 116k
They think its a short in the steering column. But man i have had zero electrical problems with this car and now they break a ground and I have a nightmare on my hands. Could the broken ground and them trying to start the car before noticing the broken ground shorted somthing out? Any help and i mean any would be awesome!!!
which power cable? the main one or the amp? sounds like they screwed over your electrical if they did, if not they DID screw your car up, you shouldnt have to pay anything more

The power cable that they hooked up wrong was the amp cable, it was hooked to the ground side... The cable that they broke was a main ground from the battery to the block. I am not going to pay any more, but now this guy has my steering column torn apart convinced its the ignition, so i would like to steer him in the right direction... Guess this is what I get for trying to save a few bucks and bring it to a garage vs. the dealer.
