Ok i never thought i would have to make my own thread here but the time has come.I have a 96 cav with a 2.2 3 spd auto and when i try to go into reverse the car kicks out of gear but it wont do it if i go very easy. Any help would be nice cuz its kinda embarrassing to have to be pushed cuz the car wont back up a hill

My guess would be has youre transmission been serviced? How many miles on youre car?. I am thinking something in youre gears in youre transmission is either broken or Needs rebuilding.

Good Luck.

That would be my guess, but Id start with the fluids first. Check the level and color of your tranny fliud, then go from there. You never know, it could be that you just need a flush and fill. You start seeing metal chips in the filter, then a trannys your next bet.

Transmission problems....
make you wanna grab someone and choke'em huh?!

Good Luck again.

Low fluid, wont casue problems in just one gear.

This is an automatic correct, your low/reverse clutch isnt holding as strong as it used to, making it slip, your trans is junk.

Ahh thats great to hear the fluid was just changed 10k miles ago the car has 200612 miles on it i got the car at 198xxx i check the fluid every week and have seen any metal. So this means my tranny is going to fail on me .
