Labor Rate question

been ages since i posted here.. but what i am wondering is labor hr wise on gettin all mounts replaced waterpump and timing chain on a 2.4 ... only reason i am wondering is i have someone that owes me some $ and is doing the work (professional shop) and he said it will be about 17 hrs of labor.. is this about right? i know the waterpumps in the 2.4 suck (hence i am killin 2 birds wit one stone and replacign the timing chain while he is at it)

Sounds like they're taking the labor hours from the book for each job, and adding them together.

Or just making up a number.

You're right in thinking that the timing chain and WP work go together. At most, it should add an hour to a book-rate WP job, which is somewhere around 4-5 hours, if I remember correctly.

but what exactly do you mean by "all mounts replaced" ?

Are you talking engine mounts? engine and tranny? Or something else, entirely?

Engine mounts take a couple minutes each, but I have no idea what a shop would actually charge you.
Tranny mount is a few minutes longer than an engine mount, but still relatively quick and easy.

yeah the 3 mounts the front right the dogbone and the tranny
