1995 Z24 Cavalier Engine Help!

Hello Everyone,

I am Robbie from Ky im new to the forums and trying to get some help on a problem ive been having for quite sometime. I have a 1995 Z24 Cavalier and I cannot find a 2.3L Engine to go back into the car, If I cannot find a reasonable priced 2.3L engine with low mileage what will fit in the 1995 z24?
I have had several different people tell me that a 2.4L Twin Cam and a 5-speed trans will work back into the car but they told me I could not use the 2.3L trans with the 2.4L twin cam motor because the bolt patterns are different and will not bolt up. I really appreciate the help on this matter. I have been looking for a reasonable priced engine with low mileage but cannot find one, The 2.4L Twin Cam engines are in the 1996 and up but not the 1995 Z24. I would appreciate some help with this issue if anyone knows how to get this working message me on here or chat., Thank You Everyone!

You don't need absolutely a 95 2.3. You can use any 2.3 from 92+. You can even swap and Ho with 180hp 160lbs. Those that told you that you can't bolt a 2.4 tranny to a 2.3 don't know anything about the 2.3/2.4 and you should never ask them any question.

actually..(and this is what i suggest) any 2.3 High Output quad4 engine from 89-94 will bolt right in that car and run off the stock pcm..itll also bolt to the existing tranny..even though getting the 5 speed the 2.3HO came with would be a much better upgrade..so forget about that slow broken quad you have now and drop in a 180hp 2.3 HO

Well let me ask this, Why can't I stick a 2.4L twin cam in there and bolt the 2.3L Tranny to it and go on about my business and have the car running after 2 yrs of it sitting around just going to rust down, I have been looking for the original motor 2.3L to go back in the car for almost 2 yrs and everytime I find one it has 200k miles or more and just not worth the price they are asking for it. So what im trying to say is where in the world can I find a motor for a reasonable price? If I can get a 2.4L twin cam motor to work in the car id like to put that in it and just use the exsisting 2.3L tranny or find me a 2.4L twincam tranny to go in it and finally get to drive the car. If I can't get it fixed soon im probaly going to sell it cheap.

I will keep this short and sweet. ANY MOTOR THAT SAYS "QUAD-4" or TWIN CAM WILL FIT. the quad-4's would be more power though....... hell form 1989-2002 thay can all use the same flywheel. my Z24 has a LH0 flywheel on it ( thats GM talk for quad 4 high output )

Hey I live in Manchester Clay County Kentucky, Ok let me ask so a "2.4L Twin Cam" Will fit just perfect in the car and I will not have to change all the wiring hirness in the whole car etc..? If someone can tell me the steps to doing tihs I would pay them I really really appreciate the help.

If my 2.3L 5 speed trans will bolt up to the 2.4L Twin Cam Motor without me having to change the complete wiring hirness that is the way I will go because I know where to get a 2.4L Twin Cam engine pretty reasonable if they still have the engine. I am wanting to put a 2.4L Twin Cam in the car because they are pretty easy to find compared to the 2.3L. Well I appreciate all the help like I said I will pay for anyones help, I will talk over the phone if your willing to help me.
