Vibration over 120 km/ph
Wednesday, March 28, 2007 6:17 AM
I have a 99' Chevy Cavalier Z24 2door.

When im driving on the highway and i go faster than 120km/ph i feel vibration in the gas pedal and slightly in the steering wheel aswell. The faster i go the more it gets. At lower speeds it is perfectly fine.

Could this be due to my wheel alignment? or something else?

maybe a bald spot in your tires, bent wheel not alignment as much tho

Its not the wheels cuz i rotated them and its still the same. And i have brand new tires, so cant be the tires either.

does it do it more when you turn? i just had to replace a wheel bearing that was the culprit.

Unbalanced tire. If you didn't had them balanced, don't look further. If you did, you either lost a weight or the guy who did it made a mistake.

you might have bent somthing probably in your transaxle. did you hit a curb or pothole or something like that ... ?

Its not the tires, cuz it happened when i had my winter rims and tires on too.
I dont think i have hit any potholes or anything.

Could be wheel alignment? But im thinking if it was wheel alignment then it would happen at lower speeds too.
or is it just down to the fact that the car is getting old?

i would check the axle or seomthing, bearings, i can almost guarantee the alignment would make u steer differently, and your tires would be wearing uneven...

mine vibrates over 65mph... i had my tires balanced @ Mr. Tire and i still have it... they told me that a bushing at the top of my driver's side front strut has broken or something and its causing there to be play in the strut...

of course, Pep Boys told me my wheel hub bearings on both sides were shot but @ 37000 miles and having never hit anything, I find that unlikely...

So from what you gus are saying it sounds like wheel bearings?

Is it worth getting the alignment checked anyway?

if you havent hit anyhting and can steer straigth with the wheel center, no its not necessary
