Aights i got a question but before i ask it ill tell you how it started.

2001 Sunfire GT

Never missed an oil change or matnace of any sort.....

Aights well just after 90,000km i started noticing a miss, but i wasnt driving the car cuz i was away i only drove it a few days when on vaction.

So i got home 4 months ago an wanted to see what was wrong so it was working on an off again for a while so i got got it checked on the cmputer cly 1 n 2 had a miss some times a big miss some times small some times not ata ll...so the guy told me to change the spark boots i did ,,didnt work,,,another guy said change the coil pack, i got a new one that wasnt it....so i changed to a better spark plug platnum 4 prong, an i noticed thje ground on the coil pack was bad so i sanded it down an bang everything worked fine....so i went on a 500km drive today an almost when i was at about 400 the engine lite comes on and then goes off after i shut the car off...but then the car is now idling high like 1200ish...

Any ideas?

Youre IAC motor could need to be cleaned out with carb cleaner, Also throttle body maybe dirty, How long has it been since you changed youre fuel filter, Also Has youre air filter been changed?.

I can answer that. Got the same problem with my '94, only mine idles at 1000 rpm. In a word after four years of it, no it won't.

Go beyond the "bolt-on".

I'm having the same problem with my 00GT 2.4L I replaced the IAT sensor and the IAC sensor and when the car is cold it still idles at about 1200rpm and it's spring time now so there really should be no need for it to do so as it's not -30 out anymore.

I dont understand it. I'm thinking it may be a vacuum leak. When it warms up then it idles fine at about 900-950rpm. Where would I check for vacuum leaks on the TB. I have a AEM intake so everything is out in the open and easy to check. Is there specific hoses I should be looking at?

Anyone have any suggestions. I have kept up with every oil change. As well as all recommended items. Fuel filter, Coolant flush, tune up, etc etc.

Regards,

My bad. Sorry that I didnt read your post completely. On my car i'm not having any miss-fires on any of my cylinders or check engine light problems. Jst the high idle problem when cold.
