Water Pump Question
Saturday, March 10, 2007 11:11 AM
Whn my car is moving or in traffic, the temp is right at 195. If it idols for 5 minutes or so, the temp starts to rise closer to 210. Is this a sign that the water pump is on its way out, or is this normal?

Sound normal to me, my saturn used to do it when idling. Since the drive belt is not moving as fast when idling the waterpump does not pump as fast and therefor cooling is slightly reduced until the revolution per minute go up again. If it is not overheating or overcooling i would not worry to much about it.

Water pump on its way out will start to operate noisily and have signs of leaking coolant on/around it.

the water pump has a "weep hole" where the coolant will start to drip out of if the pump is bad, the way u explained it sounds normal
